A Little Bit About Me...

I went to college after high school and received a Bachelor’s Degree with focus in Teaching from Eastern Michigan University. I am not a certified teacher but I do have experience with teaching. I also worked as a trainer over the phone and online for using computer software with McKesson Pharmacy Systems in Michigan. I decided to go back to college and recently graduated from Trident Technical College in South Carolina, with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science with focus in Accounting. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.80 GPA. I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society and an alumni member. I served as Treasurer for two terms in Phi Theta Kappa. When I was in my first year of college, I took a personality profile that was intended to tell me what career choices would suit me the best. Each time I took the profile, the results stated that I was best suited to be a Teacher. The secondary career choice was business. I entered college so that I could be a financial professional, and was rather surprised by the results of the profile that I thought would say "financial" as my career choice. I decided to teach driver's education at a local Christian school for two years, and found that my students were actually learning valuable lessons from my experiences, and were retaining what I taught them. My teaching style is very hands on. I understand that students learn in a variety of ways. Some are hands on, and need to actually get their hands on the project to understand. Some learn by seeing it. They have to see it and then maybe write it and learn by visualizing. Some learn by listening. They can listen to a lecture and hang on to every word. I understand that all children are different, and therefore lessons have to be taylored to fit each child's learning needs. I love children and enjoy teaching. When I was teaching in a public school, I was very well liked by both children and parents. I was there for every child; not just the good ones. My goal was to take the child that other teachers talked negatively about in the lunchroom and show them that I had no problems with that same child. Teachers should not stereotype.
