IN NEED OF A JOB

I have obtained my GED and have always had straight As in high school. I'm also familiar with construction and building skills. I am a visual learner and will do my best to make the teaching fun. I have also obtained 13 college credits from Kalamazoo valley central college. The 13 credits that I have obtained are in computer skills. The computer skills that I have obtained are those for knowing and understanding how to use Microsoft word and all other programs associated with it.
I like to have a fun open minded discussion. I don't like boring so I will do my best to spice it up.

I am an essentialist in philosophy, meaning I want the student(s) to learn material that is relevant to their experiences and that they can find useful to their lives. I want to engage them in their learning so that they can use many different learning styles. I want to show them that learning is something they can do for the rest of their lives and that they benefit from their own hard work. Everyone can learn, as long as they have the desire to learn and are guided by someone willing to help them learn.
Growing up in a family that did not value an education, I saw education as a way to make a better life for my self than gangs, drugs, and violence. I found each day of working with my students both challenging and rewarding. I do not believe in a "one size fits all" approach to education; rather I feel that programs should be developed/adapted to meet the needs of each individual. Educators must fit the program to the child, not fit the child to the program. Whether or not a student has a disability, it seems to me that the goals are basically the same: to help our youth to develop their maximum potential, whatever that may be, and to grow to be competent, productive, and independent young adults.
