Finding Your Inner Writer Effortlessly: Starts Here.

I began my college journey as an English major. I decided to switch to Elementary Education to be able to reach future writers before they lost the love for it. I have worked with all ages from toddlers to seniors in high school. I have been published in world wide devotional for women along with a world wide magazine. I have taught writing in schools to children who were struggling as well. Writing is who I am. My passion has been there since I first learned how to write in Kindergarten.
I am direct. I like to help the student find what is inside of them and write it. I am compassionate and challenging. There is an inner writer in all of us and I like to guide and help the student discover their true abilitiy effortlessly.

More About This Tutor...

While I like students to know that I am an expert in my subject field, I also want them to take the opportunity to learn critical thinking skills. I want them to gather information, ask questions and break things down to a level that makes sense for them. With that being said, I believe I have a teaching style that resembles that of a facilitator. The overall challenge is to help students reach their capacity for independent action, initiative, and responsibility. The students I've mentored and tutored have worked with me in a more consultative approach where they can see me as someone to provide support and encouragement -- not always answers.
I achieved my M.Ed. from American Intercontinental University where I held a 4.0 GPA. The classroom and hands-on experience gave me the knowledge and experience needed to face the demands of educators today. During the last four y ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I earned a Bachelor's Degree from Southern Illinois University in Elementary Education with a middle school endorsement in Language Arts and Social Studies. I was awarded the Highest Honors in Elementary Education Scholarship in 2009. My past experiences include tutoring college students in English/Composition, student teaching, completing and year-long teaching internship, teaching summer school, and substitute teaching. I feel highly qualified to help children overcome their writing and reading struggles!
Everyone has something to add, especially in the classroom, and should not be overlooked. Linda Albert's model of "Cooperative Discipline" first began to intrigue me when I was introduced to her model in on of my Education courses. I agree whole-heartedly in her approach, which is based around the idea that helping students feel capable and connected will encourage them to contr ... read more
