A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is a demonstrator. I like teacher-centered classes with an emphasis on demonstration and modeling. I try to act like a role model by demonstrating skills and processes and then as a guide in helping students develop apply theses skills and knowledge.
I have student taught for the past seven years. I have tutored countless individuals in English, Drama and American Sign Language. I am fluent in ASL and am very confident in my ability to teach others the beautiful language. I was heavily involved in theater for the past fifteen years and I can say that my experience has taught me more than any coach could and I am more than willing to share my experience. Unorthodox is the best way to describe my teaching style. Unorthodox in that I will change my approach or activities based on student comprehension. Unorthodox in that I truly believe that for every student who is confused or doesn’t understand a concept, there is a teacher who didn’t do their job. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching when there is a bit of a challenge getting the student to understand the concept. As I have mentioned, I can use different styles to help the student get the concept. I have a great deal of patience and believe that everyone can learn. I enjoy the way someone looks after they have understood and mastered an idea.
I tutored all subjects - especially in Math all through High School. I also tutored in college. I have strong skills in Math - all levels - but I especially enjoy algebra. I have two children and I basically taught my oldest son math, since he was a different kind of learner than the way they teach at school. He is a very kinesthetic type learner and needs to see, feel and touch to understand the concepts - so I used a lot of tools to help him. I can tutor math and science exceptionally well and other subjects for the younger levels.
