A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with people and I try to connect with students' strengths to bring up their weak spots. I'm very good at getting people enthusiastic about learning too. I work to provide a comfortable collaborative relationship in which students feel comfortable learning and trying out new ideas and techniques.
As a student I am seeking a career as a psychologist and am 2 semesters away from completing my MA and 2 years from my PsyD. So I understand what it's like to be a student! As a teacher my strong suit would be teaching writing because in my education I have become comfortable with my writing skills. I can help people learn to do writing that is focused and that easily communicates their ideas. Of course I am also very knowledgeable on social sciences and also statistics.

I love teaching and working with all children. I am patient, easy going, and considerate. I am a firm believer in teaching through discovery and in providing a constructive approach to learning. I try to build a child's self-esteem by showing the child that they know more than they think they know.
In 1981 I received a double-bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Texas A&M Commerce. I tutored Math, basic skills through calculus I, and Computer Science for two years while attending the University. I have also tutored all middle-school subjects, especially reading and math, at Trinity River Mission tutoring facility in Dallas from 1991-1996.
