I am the mother of 3 children and an elementary education teacher. Currently I am teaching 2nd grade but I've been teaching for 5 years and have experience in grades k,1, 2, 3 and 5. I've also had substitute and tutoring experience with grades k-12. I have experience with special needs both through my own children and within the classroom. In addition to a Bachelor's Degree I have 6 additional credit hours towards my Master's Degree and am currently enrolled in a 3 hour course. I love teaching! I didn't realize I did until I began homeschooling my daughter but I do. In fact I plan on beginning my masters in Teaching this fall. I enjoy children and working with them. I have a lot of patience and am very laid back. There is no greater joy than seeing a child's face light up when he/she suddenly "gets it." I feel that no two children learn alike, and am able to adjust to that.
Reading has always been a passion of mine. My father was a historian and an avid reader and he passed along a love of both reading and history to me. I began homeschooling my daughter two years ago, and am instilling that same love of reading in her. I have found that no matter what you do in life, a strong reader will go far. While I believe that all of the subjects taught in school are important it is my belief that reading is the most important one.

There is little that is more gratifying than seeing a lesson you have been trying to teach someone hit home, especially when it has taken a lot of hard work on both the part of the tutor and the student to get to that point.
