My comments on tutoring Continuing Education : I certainly can help in this area with my 12 years of assisting students from 17 to 40 years of age.

I try to engage my student, to tease the learning out of him or her. I have learned to explain, to give the information then to step back, allowing my student to think through to the conclusion. This involves silence sometimes, and the student talking more while I talk less, something not so easy for a teacher of Italian descent. Experiences has shown, however, that it often works.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love composition and literature, and I am especially drawn to students at the developmental level. I am good at accentuating the positive in all students, in helping them find their voice and appreciate the voices and styles of other writers. From homeschooling my own children, I learned to adapt material to individual learning styles. I am passionate about reading and writing at any level and I strive to pass that on to my students.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is to have a set of problems made up for the students to observe as examples to help understand certain chapters. I will assign additional problems if needed and focus on the subject matter that is the hardest for the individual to understand.
I have taken statistics and gotten an A in the course and still have all course materials to give a general overview of statistics and how to use SPSS. I am knowledgeable on the software and would be able to answer questions on statistics because of how well I did and how I used to help others who struggled with the class.

The very first task is to assess the student's age and learning style. Once this is determined I select the teaching style to best accomodate the student's needs. Although I have used Expert and Formal formats, I prefer to incorporated Personal and Facilitator styles. Personal establishes a prototype for how to think and behave.
