A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a Physics Faculty at Wichita State University. Before that I had been working as a Graduate teaching assistant in the department of Physics, New Mexico State University, where I taught integrated Lab physics courses to both physics and non – physics majors. This position enabled me to provide these students with a “head start” in mastering conceptual skills in general physics courses. My Labs were integrated rather than traditional. I used a variety of techniques such as computer simulations, PowerPoint presentation, group discussions, videos presentations, online tools and a variety of homework schemes to beautifully unveil the various concepts in Physics.

In conclusion, I think that I can still be successful in teaching. I however, need to find what area that I can be most successful at. I think that with my non-traditional training and experience, that a similar position would give me the opportunity to be most successful. One thing that I have thought a great deal about these past few weeks, is that I am entering middle age and must be a success at something. In the past, I have found the most enjoyment and fulfillment working with special needs and incarcerated students. I graduated cum laude from Baylor University, in May 2009, with a bachelor's in Professional Writing. My G.P.A. was 3.8 on a 4.0 scale. During my time at Baylor I discovered a love for history, and graduated one class short of a history minor. I worked as an editing transcriptionist at Baylor's Institute for Oral History. I believe that you cannot do everything for the student. You have to find their learning style and then develop upon that to be able to open the door to learning of the subjects. There is no such thing as a good teacher with out a learning student.
