The Friendly Math Guy Next Door

Taught students ranging from 7th to 12th grade in subjects ranging from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus for 2 years in a private school setting as well as after school tutoring in the aforementioned subjects. Tutored in all subjects ranging from College Algebra to Calculus while a student at Mitchell Community College. Have been sporadically tutoring relatives, acquaintances, and friends over the past 20 years.
Although I can and have made lesson plans as a tutor, I prefer just explaining and working similar examples to whatever specific questions students bring to me in an effort to have them work through their own specific problems themselves with me there to assist.

I have taught all ages and levels from preschool through community college. I have enjoyed working with students at all ability levels. I was a peer tutor as early as elementary school. I have taught mathematics at the elementary, middle school, high school, and community college levels. I have helped the top students excel and push ahead of the class, and helped the bottom students gain proficiency in the subject matter at hand. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. I have very strong math skills, especially in Algebra, which is what my daughter is learning now. I excelled in grammar, art, health, and science as well. I was a teacher at a private school for a year after college before I started a family and began home schooling. My daughter is now in the 8th grade and tests at the college level in reading and high school levels at most other subjects.
I have a daughter in the 8th grade and a son in the 6th. I have home schooled them the past 9 years. They have very different learning styles which has helped me to learn to teach in different ways to accommodate their needs. I am patient and easy going and I love helping kids.
