Professional Exam Prep and Subject Tutoring

During my time as Head Tutor at UNCA, regardless of department, I tutored over 200 students in mathematics and physics. Of those students, at least 80% saw an increase of at least one letter grade and at least 20% saw an increase by two letter grades. Many students I tutored in one subject came back to be for tutoring in the other. For many of my students I served as an invaluable mentor who guided them from their earliest days as a college freshman to the day the walked across the stage and earned their degree. Student-led and interactive. No lectures. No drudgery. I focus on the process of solving problems. Restate the question. Draw diagrams. Figure out what information is missing. How can I get that information? Can it be calculated or is an estimate good enough? What sources are reliable?
I solve problems. I am a bioanalytical chemist and biomedical engineer. This profession requires using math, statistics, biology and chemistry at a high level on a daily basis as I develop products that improve healthcare. My comments on tutoring SAT - Math : 10 years tutoring experience

Different students have different 'keys' to learning. I utilize a flexible approach which seeks to 'unlock' the potential in each individual student.

I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected.
