While pursuing my Master's degree, I taught several sections on Civil Engineering principles. I also held office hours to tutor students in any other classwork where they were in need of assistance. Subjects ranges from physics to structural mechanics to hydrology to fluid mechanics.
My teaching style is perhaps not as Socratic as I would prefer. I first elucidate the principles being considered, and then use a practical means to illustrate and work with that principle. I like to have the student learn to derive what is being taught for themselves. That way the material will stay with them. Grounding the material being learned in some real-life experience makes knowledge meaningful and useful. That is what I endeavor to achieve.

My experiences in working with children extended as a student in college, when I started volunteering in After School Programs, first starting at Parlier High School in Parlier Unified School District. I tutored students and directed review sessions for students who needed to take the California High School Exit Exam. I also provided extra curricular activities for students who were done with their homework. I continued to volunteer in the After School Program at Terronez Middle School in Fresno Unified School District. My duties were very similar as they were in Parlier High School.
