Most recently, I served as faculty for a study-abroad program in Tanzania for Earlham College. In addition to implementing all programmatic activities, I designed and taught a rigorous conservation course. Quality education has always been very important to me. Beginning in high school I volunteered as an educator for elementary children through the "Just Say No (to drugs and peer pressure)" program. In order to effectively teach, I feel it is important to recognize and understand each student's metacognitive learning style. Once that is understood the material can be introduced to them in a way that they can perceive. I also feel that it is important to empower students to have the confidence to think for themselves and understand their own ability to make connections about the material.
