More About This Tutor...

I have had intensive study at Case Western Reserve, mostly in chemistry (general chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry and physical chemistry), but I know many other subjects and I am proficient in them. I have good understanding of biology, microbiology, biochemistry and physiology. I'm pretty strong in math as well, going all the way up to calculus. I help teach my little siblings who are homeschooled and have experience teaching others who are outside of my family. I love to learn and help other learn their subject of interest, and I hope that I can provide the assistance people are looking for.

Chemistry is one of my top subjects! I have had the good fortune of tutoring several high school and college students in chemistry over the years and would welcome the opportunity to serve in that capacity again.

My philosophy is that, as long as students don't give up on themselves, I won't give up on them either. Often, when students first come to me for tutoring, they are frustrated and discouraged. My first job is to get their confidence back and get them to believe in themselves again.
Over the past several years, I have tutored several high school and college students in chemistry and would welcome the opportunity to serve in that capacity again. One college student that I tutored failed his first two exams before I began tutoring him. After I began working with him, through his hard work, he did well on the third exam, passed the course, and continued on in the program that he was in. He recently graduated with a degree in pharmacy. Another student that I tutored got a 2 out of 10 on his first quiz before I started working with him and through his persistence, he improved significant ... read more

I believe that all children should be given the opportunity to learn and succeed. I feel that it is my job to create a safe, secure, and fun environment in order for learning to take place. I believe that all students can suceed and as an educator I need to find the best way to teach in order for all of my students to succeed. I love children and want them to be the best that they can.
Currently, I am an online math tutor. I tutor students at the elementary and middle school level. Prior to becoming a tutor I was a Middle School Math teacher at an alternative school. I have also tutored Elementary students in Reading and Math in previous years.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with students and helping them to learn and understand. I believe that any student can understand any subject and that all students are able to succeed. I am an innovative, flexible, and patient individual. I am excited to work with students helping them to succeed in all that they do. As for a specific teaching style, I beleive that teachers should adapt how they teach. This ability to change is what allows all students to learn no matter past experiences in a given subject.
As someone who is working full-time and going to school full-time, I am driven to succeed in everything that I do. I have earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree from Liberty University so that I can teach. In physics, chemistry, and mathematics, I believe it is very important that the student must learn the fundamental principles and concepts for long-term retention and application. Therefore, my teaching style will be based on: "DID YOU GET IT?" and not based on "rote learning" or "getting the result and moving on." I believe that a bright child should not be deterred from learning and achieving the fullest depth of his or her potential because of the shallowness of the perceptions of society. In my experience and observations, every child has a different style of learning. Bottom line: My goal is to make students learn with enthusiasm; ask plenty of questions; and retain what they learn!
I bring advanced college degrees, 20 years of real-world experience, and a deep insight into the barriers of culture, race, and language. I have a Bachelors degree(Chemical Engr.) and Masters (C ... read more

As a biochemistry graduate I have high levels of experience within both disciplines of chemistry and biology. I have participated in graduate research at The Ohio State University as an analytical chemistry intern and have experience with graduate coursework and workload. As well, I have 2 years of experience as a teaching assistant, at both the undergraduate and graduate level, which has sharpened my skills as an instructor.
In my opinion, the optimal style of teaching is created specifically to accentuate a students strengths, while properly developing areas of weakness. My teaching style is very adaptable to all students and their various styles of learning. Most importantly, I feel with determination and a comfortable learning environment, all students can succeed in various academic disciplines. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching for over 20 years. During those teaching years, I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge in the sciences by attending various fellowships and workshops during the summers. I also had the opportunity to work in industry for 2 years, so I got the experience of that to bring back into the classroom.
Every class is different, so your approach has to match that class. So, how you teach in one class is nothing as you would teach in another. I try to get the students involved. I try to get them to see the whole picture.

I graduated with a degree in Physical Science Education, which gives me a strong background in Physical Sciences and in math. I have worked with children and youth of all age levels and nearly every ability. I ran an afterschool program for the Salvation Army, ran a boys home for troubled boys and worked in St. Paul City schools as a substitute teacher and a night teacher at an evening school. I also have worked six summers at a Salvation Army camp. Through these experiences I have worked with both gifted and special needs children and youth.

I enjoy having fun with youth while learning and teaching those I work with the value of what they are learning. Being in college for four years exposed me to social environments that I normally wouldn't have been able to encounter on a day to day basis. Whether I was learning on my own, working with or helping fellow classmates, or even just observing how the professors worked with us, I was always learing new concepts or methods of how to interact with a wide variety of characteristics in a diverse group of people. And due to the difficulty of my major, I feel that by being able to communicate well with others in this area I could handle various other scenarios as well. I am highly self-motivated and enjoy sharing my knowledge and ideas with others.
When a question is asked, I am not going to simply just tell the student the answer. I would want them to think it out and try and figure it out for themselves. I would however guide them in the right direction and even ask them other quest ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is upbeat and engaging. I believe that just telling a student the material and expecting them to know it later is a misconception. How I was trained to tutor students was to have them explain the material to me, instead of giving blatant answers, or if we don't know we could review the textbook, the notes, or look it up in another resource. Not only does this give the student the correct and complete answer, it allows them to retain study skills which will be vital down the road in other courses and reinforces great study habits. Learning new material is never easy, and having different ways of approaching and tackling it helps guide the student to help themselves as well.

I like to teach using examples, either on a board to show a person step by step first. Then try to give the student examples to try to solve themselves. If this does not work I continue to breakdown a problem until we can clearly identify where the student is having trouble.
I have helped tutor friends’ kids on math from little school to high school. I have taken math all the way up to Differential equations and feel alright tutoring up to calculus one. I do not possess documented experience from schools or other organizations. I am a very highly motivated individual that does not mind helping others. I also have experience in teaching or helping coach little league sports educating kids on how to play games correctly. I have also been an assistant coach and helped out at Clinton Community College with girl’s softball under the head coach.
