I have two different teaching styles depending on whether I am in a preschool setting or middle school type setting. I enjoy a very positive an inviting atmosphere where my students are comfortable while creating a community of learners. I have a strong sense of authority that is initially established, coming from such a young age. I do not expect any more from one student than I would another. I have a Bachelor's in Social Work and have worked in that field for a number of years. I have an Elementary Education degree with an endorsement in Special Education. I have worked as a para-educator for approximately two years in an elementary school setting. I spent one on one time with students to assist them with increasing their comprehension of school materials. I have substituted a number of times and I have also taught summer school. A Little Bit About Me...

The most important thing to remember when teaching a child new concepts is patience. All children learn skills in different ways. Some catch on quickly, others need more time. Even the way in which you demonstrate how a problem is solved can make a difference. I usually try several methods for solving problems rather than insist that they learn the traditional methods only. The little bit of extra time spent giving them the optional techniques could make a world of difference in their educational success.
As a parent of two school-aged children I have had the oppurtunity to learn about the newest teaching methods employed by teachers at this time. We often work together on math and science.
