I encourage each child to try their best. I believe that each child has the potential to do well in school and I feel that it is my job to help them succeed. I have helped several of my students improve their math and reading grades, dramatically! One of my students was failing math and he received a B on his last report card! The other student went from a fourth grade reading level to a seventh grade reading level in less than three months. I enjoy seeing the smiles on the children's faces when they get a good report card and it makes my job worthwhile.

I am a senior at the University of Central Florida. I go to school at a regional campus in Leesburg to stay close to home. I am in my internship right now and I will be teaching by this time next year. My passion for children started when I was sixteen. I worked at an after school program where I tutored elementary aged children. I knew from then on that I wanted to become an educator. I currently have my AA in elementary education and will be receiving my BA in the spring of 2010. When I graduate I will be ESOL endorsed and reading endorsed. The areas of tutoring for me are reading, language arts, math, social studies, and science for grades K-5.

My Florida certification covers grades K-6. As a kindergarten teacher, I was one of two teachers out of eight that was able to get my entire class on grade level by midyear according to the DIBELS standards. My experience as a paralegal focused on my writing skills. I was often consulted for my grammar and vocabulary knowledge.
I like to use fun and innovative strategies to intrinsically motivate my students. Children learn in many different ways. I am fascinated with the concept that the more senses you utilize in teaching the better the child learns and retains what was taught. Some children respond to verbal teaching, while others prefer visual teaching, or others like to interact with their environment (the hands on approach). Each child has their own language. I believe that a teacher must do whatever is necessary to reach the student so that he can learn. Learning should be fun and enjoyable! I love seeing a child understand a new concept; it is like learning all over again. Today, few students and for that matter parents enjoy mathematics. Mathematics would best be taught by those who love it so they can pass their love of the subject onto their students.
Although I have a well-rounded education, most of my knowledge and work experience is in mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus plus the r ... read more

Work well with accomidating others in the different learning styles. Having a hard time explaining to teachers and professors about their teaching approach made me aware of the situation. I love to teach others how to long for self motivation. I believe that anyone can learn as much as they would like if they think positive and continue to focus.

I earned my Bachelors of Arts degree while working full time. I also continued to pursue employment that enabled me to work on my own. I have tutored not only my child to become an A/B student but also worked with another student, voluntarily, who was struggling in school. In today's work environment whether you strive to go to college or become a tradesperson your ability to learn is paramount. Having a tutor or coach to assist the student can be a rewarding experience for the student as well as the teacher.
I love the learning process and the excitement of success. I believe that not all students learn the same way and am commited to finding the connection that will make the child that I tutor successful. I live for the "ah ha" moment when we both realize that the information has been learned and retained.

Here is Some Good Information About Florida Writes Tutoring

The Florida Writing Assessment was implemented in grades 4, 8, and 10 as required by a law passed by the 1990 legislature. Does your student need a tutor? Beginning in 2010, each essay was scored by one rater. In previous years, two raters were used and the scores were averaged. Prior to 2010, a student could have received a half-point score, such as 4.5; whereas since 2010, no half-point scores are possible. Additionally, beginning in 2010, each student within the same grade level was required to write an essay using the same mode of writing (narrative, expository, or persuasive).
