Hearing Impaired is one of my top subjects! I am a certified Hearing Itinerant Teacher with 3 years of teaching experience.

I use Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS) to establish motivation and classroom management. This includes breaks, class store, team competitions etc. My teaching philosophy is to meet students at their current level and push them to the next level to get them caught up with their peers. I assess students frequently to ensure they are making progress in their targeted area. As a tutor I will collaborate with school teachers and parents to ensure I am covering the same information the child is learning at school.

Teaching has been my last career change. My prior experience has been in the field of manufacturing, maintenance engineering services and construction management. This diversified background was instrumental in equipping me to acquire a technology education certificate in three states (NY, OH, NJ) I am equipped to tutor elementary students in math, the physical sciences and language arts. I have been teaching for 29 years. I have a Master's in Education and I am currently finishing my Speech degree. I have taught preschool special education, deaf education/hearing impairment K-5th grade and K/first grade. My passion is reading and literacy skills which I implement with my school age children with hearing impairment. I am licensed in prek/K-12 special ed, prek- 8th grade, reading and hearing impairment. My speech and language license is pending. I love working with young children and have previously tutored privately.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am in my sixth year of teaching. I am one of nine third grade teachers at Miami Trace Elementary school for Miami Trace Local Schools. Previously, I taught at Wayne Elementary. I taught first grade for one year and third grade for the two years. I attended Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. During my time there I had classroom experiences in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and a kindergarten/first grade room in Mansfield, as well as Ashland. My student teaching was spent in a second and third grade split classroom at Cornerstone Elementary School in Wooster.
