I am knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and experienced working with children with a variety of needs. I believe every child is an individual that should be treated with respect and understanding. My approach to teaching utilizes a child's interests, technology, engaging texts, and inquiry-based projects. Tutoring can be so much more than impersonal instruction.

I am a determined, enthusiastic, and highly motivated teacher. I want students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally in an atmosphere that is stimulating and adaptive to their diverse needs. I have focused on instilling in my students a love of learning. I believe it takes more than a single individual to make a difference in the lives of a student. Therefore, I have learned the value of being a team player and the importance of communicating with colleagues, parents, and administrators.

A Little Bit About Me...

LOUD & LIVELY! I like to make the lessons I teach interesting and involvement is key. If I can educate and entertain (a tool I use), I command participation, respect and learning. Due to my style, students, once in a while, think it's all fun and games. I am also an enforcer of rules. If you want to continue to have learn and have fun, you better act right.
As an educator, I have tutored students in mathematics and English from grades 4 through college level. I have taught songwriting in summer camps, 4th grade language arts and ESL to high school kids fresh from Korea. Also, as a Youth Advocate, part of my job description was helping my kids with school work and homework.

A Little Bit About Me...

As I mentioned in the above paragraph, I meet the child where they are in their learning style. I can adapt to how they learn best and then use different activities and tools to again, "drive home" the concept of what the child may be struggling with. I love teaching anything!
When I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree in 2002, I accepted a job at a small school in upstate NY that needed a PE teacher. I quickly learned to just relax and "go with the flow" of how the students learned the material and what kind of different activities that we could do to "drive home" the concept of what we were studying. I also learned to be very flexible. I wore many many different hats that first year of teaching which has given me to experience I needed in my recent years of teaching. I am passionate about sports, athletics, history and teaching as a whole!

My educational philosophy is a very simple one that can be broken down into three basic elements: (A) Students leave the classroom feeling accomplished in their efforts in my class, (B) Teaching my students more options on life careers or ways of getting them to the next step to get closer to that dream, and (C) showing my students that the knowledge they acquire in my classroom can help make the world a better place. Taking pride in one self and everything we do is a very good quality to stay in health mentally and physically.
My experience at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey was a very fast paced and in-depth educational experience; striving to reach my top most capabilities as a teacher.
