Initially endorsed for Art (#042), a dual endorsement for Technology (#098) was added in September 2014 and I transitioned from the art department to the business/ technology department. Classes focus on graphic design, web design, motion graphics, digital photography and video production. Classes include fundamental skills as well as advanced techniques. Students learn concepts in composition, typography, marketing from a designer’s point of view, color theory, and software skills. Throughout my public school career I have accomplished a great deal of personal learning. I have an exceptional understanding of several Adobe software products including: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, Muse, Edge Reflow, Edge Animate, Fireworks, Bridge, After Effects and Captivate. I am a doer who has shared his knowledge and experience in a variety of ways. When I worked as a photographer and filmmaker, I taught those subjects at many different institutions, from an after-school program for elementary school kids to NYU Graduate School. For many years now, I have worked as a science writer and editor. I mentor many newly minted Chinese scientists and engineers who work for IBM in Beijing, teaching them both English grammar and the proper form and style for peer-reviewed scientific papers they are writing. I developed and taught courses in Communications and Technical and Professional Writing for Marist College, Poughkeepsie NY. One of the things I enjoy more than anything is helping someone to understand not only the specific principals of the subject matter, but the WHYS and WHEREFORES so that as that student encounters real world examples he/she will quickly be able to adapt and be successful. I am a patient teacher who "has been there" and wants to help anyone I can. I have been working as a company CFO and VP Finance in excess of 40 years. There is virtually nothing I do not know regarding accounting and finance. This will provide students with real world experience as well as the principals required in a course study. I also have expert experience in Excel and Word. In addition, during this time I have been instrumental in tutoring employees who have worked for me. This numbers in the hundreds over the years. I developed a patient style of simply allowing a student to set his own pace yet make sure he lives up to his own promises. Making lasting commetments allowes the student to take controle of his own improvement, yet allows me to see what he need direction in. In showing the student alternative practices, he will see the benifit in changing his ways for the better. I am seeking a degree in Finance and Actuarial Sciences from the University of Connecticut. I achived a high level of proficiency in math from a very young age and finish Advanced Calc 3 and a half years ago. I have tutored a student for his entire second year of high school in all subjects with noticable GPA improvements.
