My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : During the regular school year I tutor mostly students with ADD or ADHD.

I have taught for many years in all levels of secondary school, alternative schools, and tutoring centers.I eat, sleep, and drink tutoring as I tutor every day during the school year and do lots of research to help my kids in whatever academic subject is causing them difficulty. I began my teaching career for the first five years as a high school English teacher and taught regular college prep English courses.The next five years I taught English at the middle school level.Next, I got married and resigned from teaching when our first child was born. A Little Bit About Me...

Because of my experience in teaching my own children, I have discovered that no child is too young to learn. Often people will not consider an infant or toddler a "functioning human being" until the child can speak. This is so inaccurate! I taught one of my daughters to read at age four. My teaching style is to engage the student on a personal level through cheerful conversation and sharing of interests, then to assess learning styles, strengths, and challenges. Children perform well when expectations are complimentary to them, and when they are given the tools and nurture to accomplish their dreams.
