I have worked as a teacher of English as a Second Language at two elementary level schools in Paris, France, as a private French tutor, and as an elementary writing/composition tutor. I am currently working on my final year to receive my bachelor's degree at Illinois Wesleyan University.

My teaching style is one which engages the student actively in the learning process. I have used the "popcorn" technique in a classroom, where I call out "popcorn", then call on someone at random. This ensures that each student in the class is following, or else they lose their turn to read. If I'm working w/ a student w/ poor reading skills, I allow them to read, and help them w/ the difficult words, encouraging them to sound out the word. I also try to engage models, and kinestetics, in the learning process. One picture=1,000 words, and one model = 1,000 pictures. I also use these techniques in teaching mathematics.

As a child I loved to read and write. In High School I took the AP exams for both English Language and English Composition, scoring a 4 and a 5. It was a natural choice for me to major in English when I started my college career. While working on my degree I already knew I wanted to teach, so I began tutoring.
