A Little Bit About Me...

I am a seasoned enthusiastic teacher whose top priority is not salary, but student achievement and job satisfaction. As such I would love to share my passion for the French language and culture with students of all ages. I previously taught all levels of French, including AP, for 11 years at Oratory Prep School in Summit, New Jersey. Subsequently, I taught for 13 years in the Randolph School District where I was voted teacher of the year in 2008. I also taught adults as an adjunct at Sussex County Community College. I hold a Masters of French Literature degree.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Saratov State University of Russia Graduate, I had, as it very common for Russia education, minors in Physics and Mathematics. After finishing the University I was working for three years as a Technology Trainer appreciated by hospital staff for ability to explain technology in understandable terms. After coming to US in 1997 and working as a chauffeur, I began tutoring among my colleagues' and friends' children in mathematics and physics where I can tutor from elementary level all the way to college degree program.
Most of my teaching stile I adopted from my grandmother who taught mathematics in high school for 56 years and received three Soros Education Foundation awards, and also from my teacher of mathematics in the High School of Physics and Mathematics, which I finished in 1989. Showing substitution techniques when the student has to deal with abstract letters and symbols has been very effective. Also, stressing the importance of practice tests as well as the skill of time management is important. Critical is an open communication and a awareness and sensitivity to the students learning needs / skills.
Studying for my MA, I held a TA and found that I had a talent for connecting with students. Although I pursued a business career, specializing in electronic payments, I tutored Math on a part-time basis because I found it rewarding especially when students who told me they "hated math" liked doing math with me and subsequently scored well on their tests. In the last 3 years I had 2 students that achieved perfect 800s on their math.
