Very patient, friendly, and effective

I have seven years of upper level education experience with a wide variety of subjects. Four of those years I was involved in teaching and tutoring other college students. I also have worked with younger students, mostly with biology, history and research writing. I have done research in various fields of biology, specifically aquatic biology.
I find I learn the most when I can relate a subject or theme to something current or more familiar to me. Finding something a student is interested in and trying to break down a complicated matter into simple, easy to remember parts when possible that they can relate to in an easy manner. I find this very effective with students who may have ADHD or just some trouble focusing on occasion.

I believe that if a student wants to learn, they can accomplish anything. As an educator, it is my responsibility to help all students accomplish their individual goals. The learning process is one of my favorite things to witness because it can occur at any time in any place. The incredible part of teaching is that the educator also learns. Every student has a specific way of learning that works best for them. When the educator can identify a learning style that enhances understanding, that is when real learning takes place. I am a very patient person who understands that the best way to teach someone anything is to find out how they learn. My goal is to help others be confident about what they do know and to not be afraid to ask questions about what they don't know. If I can't teach someone anything, I will find someone who can.
