Better academics combined with more fun is the goal.

I consider it my duty to do what it takes to make the tutoring FUN for the person being tutored.
I have helped friends (and their children) to prepare for exams since when in high school I won various awards for my performance on exams. I won the top score for the Regents exam for Duval County in 1971 and for this I was recognized by the downtown Rotary Club. Also I won the top statewide scholarship award for the Chamber of Commerce and for the N.H.S. due to performance on exams. Also I won the Merit Scholarship award. I have only recently started to do tutoring for pay. Over the years I have helped my children, my grandchildren, and friends and others to prepare for exams ranging from kindergarten phonics up to and beyond SAT exams.

My comments on tutoring Writing Skills : In both professional and academic endeavors I was required to develop a compelling set f writing skills to be successful. I have been sharing these skills for five years.

Prior to serving in the United States Army, I was a successful entrepreneur in NJ. Whenever I can, I like to be very hands-on in my teaching my students. For example, once I was teaching my class about trees. I had them go outside and collect samples of bark which had fallen on the ground. Then we created a gigantic mural in my classroom and glued the pieces of bark to a tree we had drawn.
I have been a self-employed Tutor since April, 2006. Special needs and home schooled students are welcomed. My comments on tutoring Writing Skills : I have had a large amount of writing experience in high school and college. I had an 800 on the Writing section of the SAT. I can tutor students regarding general writing skills, help them with specific papers, or prepare them for standardized writing exams.

I am a big proponent of the theory of multiple intelligences and believe that each student has certain styles of learning that work best for them. I aim to help students figure out how they learn best. Once they realize where their strengths are, they can incorporate the concept into all of their studies, not just the subject for which I happen to be tutoring them.
I have tutored a wide variety students on many subjects. I am most experienced tutoring high school students for the SAT.
