Learn from the basics

I have taught several students in India, and I am quite properly understand the knowledge and the background required to teach subjects. I was myself a college topper and a school gold medalist. Hence I can teach and inculcate the knowledge of teaching in students. Learning maths and science is something very elementary if understood from the basics and in-depth. Thus it is very important that a student should learn, read and write all in-depth. This learning curve is something that I have tried to develop in myself from years to come and hope to imbibe the knowledge of it in several other students. I had got 167/170 in my GRE thus the basics of my maths is quite strong. I have even taught several students in India about how to crack this exam and helped several for cracking this exam too. Mostly I prefer relating abstract concepts to everyday life. I believe if a student can parallel course material with events that occur in his or her life then he or she will always remember the concept and have a deeper understanding of it.
After graduation with my BSEE, I have been trying out employment in the Engineering field. My math and physics skills have become the front-runners in my tutoring career. My teaching style consist of explaining the information, asking open ended questions and re-explaining the information again. If I notice the student is having trouble answering the questions then I use a different teaching approach. I try to relate the questions to something the person has experienced in his/her culture.

I would say my teaching method would closely reflect the socratic method. I often work with students asking many questions. I never just give an answer. The questioning serves several purposes: to instruct via reproduction, to instill confidence, and to show my interest and desire for their success. Typically when I tutor a student, I go over the basic concepts and go over problems. I teach them what to look for and techniques used to approach any problem. Once they have built up that confidence in identifying an approach to a problem, I let them do one on their own.
