As an adjunct faculty instructor at the University of North Alabama, I teach students in a public speaking course through a series of class lectures, individual and group activities, live performances, examinations, and out of class assignments. I work on skills such as audience and situational analysis, research, organization, delivery, body language, and listening. As both a teacher and a counselor I have worked to develop a teaching style that is student focused. In order to do that I want to inspire and challenge the student to reveal their abilities and interests and track them as they develop. The student and I will set specific goal areas with attainable steps, so that we can both check the progress. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style changes based on the learning style of my students. Some are more concrete and others are more abstract. I am comfortable teaching at all levels of both the cognitive and affective domains. I enjoy working one on one with students and tailoring lesson plans to help the student get the most out of a class. I typically introduce a concept or principle, describe why the principle is important, provide a variety of illustrations, then let the student try some exercises. I then have the student walk through each of these four categories to make sure they have a thorough understanding of the topic and how it relates to what we have learned in previous lessons.
