My comments on tutoring Genetics : Received an A+ in Genetics at Clemson University in the Fall of 2010

I have a passion for teaching others and spreading my knowledge- I enjoy not only helping a student to understand, but to also become a mentor. I have been tutoring since middle school, and throughout high school. Since I have been in college, I have been eager to tutor again. My knowledge is mostly in high school and college biology, anatomy, and physiology. Throughout college, many of my friends and classmates came to me with questions or help, because I am good at simplifying the material and making it understandable on a basic level.
I am a visual learner and work well with other visual learners. I simplify the topic for the student for easy explanation and understanding, so we can then build upon the foundation for more in-depth understanding. I enjoy using diagrams and still have all of my resources from high school and college to utilize.

I love that look that you get from a child who gets what you are teaching them. When the light bulb turns on, and you know that they understand the process. That's what makes it all worth it. My teaching style is that with enough work, any child can succeed. They just have to know they matter to the teacher. I am a hands on learner myself so visual tools help me to teach the concepts to students.
I am a graduate of Clemson University, with a BA in Biological Sciences. I have always enjoyed biology since my first AP class my Junior year of high school. In May of 2010, I received my BS in Biological Sciences from the University of South Carolina. In addition, I have a cognate in Landform Geography. I hold a Academic Grade Point Average of 3.887/4.0, and I am a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. My favorite biology courses include cellular and molecular biology, although I hold extensive knowledge in all apects of the biological sciences including physiology, histology, bacteriology, genetics and plant biology.
Many college freshmen struggle with Biology 101. While some universities have services to students, not all institutions are fortunate enough to give their students free access to tutoring. I love working with children and students of all ages. I was a volunteer at Shriners Childrens Hospital for many years in the recreational therapy department. I was a "class teacher" at a friend's daycare part time, and I held a summer job as a lifeguard and swim instructor for many years. A Little Bit About Me...

I do not have current experience teaching or tutoring for pay. I did some tutoring of high school students and fellow classmates while I was in college. Since then, I have been the "go-to" person in my family for help with math and science. I tutored one of my sisters in her classes at St Charles Community College. She graduated with an Associates degree in AutoCAD last year. I helped her with all her cad, math, physics, and engineering classes. From 2002 thru 2008, I tutored one of my nieces through her junior high and high school math and science classes.
