Columbus Public Schools 1987-1997: During this time period, I taught at the high school, middle school, and elementary level. I then left formal education to stay home with my children. While at home raising my daughters, I did home tutoring from 1989-2006. I then returned to teaching by doing home instruction for Bloom-Carroll (2003-2004)and Fairfield Union (2005). I then did two long-term subbing jobs at Pickerington HS North and Lakeview Junior High School in Pickerington for Intervention Specialists (2006 & 2007). The following school year I was hired by Lancaster Thomas Ewing for a teacher that retired in October to finish out the school year. The following year, I was again hired by Pickerington HS North. Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! As an Intervention Specialist of 18 years, my specialization is the intervention of reading disabilities and dyslexia with students in grades K-12. I have completed Basic and Advanced courses through the Orton Gillingham Academy and am certified as a classroom teacher with over 300 hours of students instructional time using the Orton Gillingham method of instruction.

With the appropriate instruction, I believe that all students can progress and build confidence in themselves as learners. It is my job to bring quality instruction and positivity to the lesson, with the goal of creating a genuine learning experience that will increase achievement in the classroom. It is important to me that students can be themselves during the lesson and communicate what they need to be successful. Beside data that is kept during the lesson, I take into account student needs and goals. Overall my teaching style is relaxed yet structured.
