A Little Bit About Me...

I specialized in poetry studying under one of the top T.S. Eliot scholars. As a literature major we studied a wide range of topics from early english to post colonial literature. This has given me a great appreciation of the english language. I graduated Rutgers University majoring in Biology and German, and minoring in Chemistry. I have a strong science background, which I will continue to expand by completing a PhD at Yale starting in the Fall. I have experience tutoring students in math during the last 2 years of high school, and 1 year of calculus tutoring in college. In addition, I tutor my 13 year-old sister in all the subjects of her curriculum.
My approach is to determine the student's weaknesses, and then formulate analogies to explain the difficult concepts. I have always loved to teach – even as a child in front of a tiny blackboard in my living room, playing school with my sister. Since then, I have continuously sought opportunities to teach outside of my daily school and work life. As an undergraduate at Middlebury College, I volunteered to teach beginning German at a local elementary school. After college, I taught seventh-grade Faith Formation at my church and also led monthly, 3-hour Confirmation preparation classes.
