A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and learning new things and believe it should be a fun experience. I have an 8 year old daughter and a mother currently taking college courses so I have learned a great deal of patience over the years and developed a relaxed, happy personality.
In 2005 I graduated from the University of West Florida, earning a BA in psychology with a 3.5 GPA. During that time I was vice president of an on-campus meditation group that lead people in meditation and relaxation techniques. I have assisted many people with tutoring for various types of academic and placement tests, e.g, ASVAB, ACT and SAT, as well as college placement tests for english and math. My teaching-style is rigorous yet kind. My students say that no one has ever criticized their writing and thought so thoroughly and constructively. I'm known for my patience working with students with foreign-language backgrounds and other disabilities such as a lack of attention and focus. I learned from my professors at Swarthmore College (and a few at Penn) how to project a non-B.S. style, since kids tend to intuitively realize when their teacher has no idea what he/she is talking about. Coming from a family of teachers and professors (who have also been my teachers), I'm confident that good teaching is in my bones. I never use technology just for the sake of using technology.
