I have a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, with a concentration in Statistics. I'm currently working on a Master's degree in Biomathematics at Illinois State University so that I can teach either Biology or Math at the community college level. I have over 5 years of experience teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and lower and upper division Statistics. My teaching style is very similar to how I was taught, lots of examples with guidance. I was never given the answer, but given all the tools to necessary to complete the task. In most math courses, the problems themselves are not what you have to worry about, but the clock is the real problem. Therefore, lots of example and building confidence from those examples would be my ideal teaching style.
While earning my degrees, I was inducted into a honor society with emphasis on helping the engineering students in our department in several way. Our focus was working with companies for future jobs and offering free tutoring every week for all computer and electrical engineering courses that were junior level and below. I am a student that has a drive of excellence. I graduated from Northern Ill. Univ in 2010, as cum laude. I hold a B.S. in BioChemistry. I have experience as a tutor, which I obtained while as a student at NIU. I would tutor other students with in the chemistry, math, and biology departments.
I love teaching. I us a guiding method of teaching. Because I believe that students learn the most when they do the work themselves, but sometimes they need someone there to motivate them or to guide them in the right direction. I feel this works in group studies also, but, the difference being is that all the student will be involved in a group discussion.

As an experienced K-12 substitute teacher, my work extended from the inner city to the county schools. I had the opportunity to instruct students with various ability levels and learning styles. During the 2008-2009 school term I served as an AmeriCorps VISTA in a middle school working as tutor, special projects assistant, and mentor.
