A Little Bit About Me...

I have a very strong background in writing. My experience includes my graduate research and thesis, news writing for a tv station, in addition to 6 years of writing for academia. I spent a semester in Pau, France and can tutor beginning to intermediate level students. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA in high school, college and graduate school.
I don't believe in giving a student the answers to their questions. Rather, I think it is important to help them find the answers themselves--understanding the process will enable them to perform on their own. For example, rather than editing a student's paper, I will go through it line by line and have them help me find the errors.

A Little Bit About Me...

I taught one semester of College Algebra at Illinois State University. I was responsible for 2 sections of lab while I completed graduate credits for a Master's in Mathematics. My B.S. in actuarial science (math) was attained from Bradley University. Also, I've been a youth minister at the local church for a year and half now and have formed a large group consisting of junior high and high school students.
I love to put myself in the students' shoes. I have the ability to relate to the students on an individual level and they respect me. I always hope that no one is left behind just because they are afraid to ask questions. I believe in having fun while learning and in being honest with your students.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have had a passion for education since I was a third grade student. I always thought I wanted to be a teacher "when I grew up." I earned a BA in psychology and started a Master's program in elementary education. Due to personal circumstances, however, I was not able to complete the program. I then taught early childhood and continued to volunteer in schools. I now work in the education department at Bradley University. I enjoy teaching and coaching. As a chess coach I taught a group of 10-20 children. I have also helped coach some of my son's sports, but what I really enjoy is one-on-one teaching although my experience is mostly limited to teaching my third grade son who is very advanced and teaching accounting to a non-accountant assistant at work.
