Calculus I is one of my top subjects! Calculus 1 is very simple if it is explained in sufficient detail and the proper terminology is used to describe the basic underlying principles of calculus. This is the course that I tutor the most at college.

I like students to understand how the material they are learning can and is being applied to everyday situations. So I often will talk about the big topics that have been covered explain why they are useful and then show the student how to perform various calculations or apply the nessecary logic to solve problems.

The Friendly Math Guy Next Door

Teaching style depends on the subject, the type of material, and the student’s level and ability. The goal is to inspire a student to learn the study skills necessary to excel on their own. In a tutoring situation there is usually the immediate need (to pass a test) and the long term need to be able to succeed on their own.
