My comments on tutoring Biology : As a Registered Nurse, I apply these principles daily

Very relaxed and encouraging. I use quite a bit of discussion, and I like to ask students questions that lead them down the path to help them discover the answers they seek. I have found that information is better retained if one can guide the student to the conclusion that they seek, building upon the knowledge that is already there. One of my favorite thing is watching stidents' faces when they have the "Aha!" Moments.

Experienced Math/Science Tutor with References

I am an experienced math and science tutor. I am a 4.0 Nursing student at the University of Texas at Tyler. I am very comfortable teaching children of all ages, and am confident in my ability to assist students. I have tutored many children, from elementary to beginning high school. I myself have completed math up to Calculus I and Statistics. I excel in Algebra and Biology, but feel comfortable in most sciences and maths.
I encourage a display-practice approach. This is when the student watches the tutor complete the problem step-by-step, and then works out a similar problem independently.

More About This Tutor...

I believe children today are shortchanged by our educational system. Kids need people who hold them to high standards rather than minimums. They need to feel like people believe they are worthy of success and able to attain it rather than being given built-in excuses. Therefore, my teaching style is to hold students to a high level of proficiency. I work with students in a way that builds their confidence and makes them feel like they know things others don't. There is a real "edge" that they feel when they think they might actually be "one of the smart ones" after all and it breeds both an interest and an ambition to be better.
I have Accounting, Finance, and Economics degrees or designations of emphasis as part of my educational resume. Earning those degrees takes quite a bit of mathematical and analytical knowledge and skill. I went into these degree areas because they no ... read more

Cell theory states that the cell is the fundamental unit of life, and that all living things are composed of one or more cells or the secreted products of those cells (e.g. shells). All cells arise from other cells through cell division. In multicellular organisms, every cell in the organism's body derives ultimately from a single cell in a fertilized egg.
