A Little Bit About Me...

I taught Special Education for 14 years. After that I moved into the child care arena working with DHR, adjudicated and autistic youth. I am currently working at a facility which services individuals working towards attaining their GED.These youth are either court ordered to get their GED while they are being serviced at this facility or they are drop-outs who'said best shot at moving up on the academic ladder is getting their GED.

I have taught public school in the Montgomery County School System for 26 years. I retired May 2010. I have taught grades 1-6 in All subject areas. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1983 from Auburn University. I received my Master's Degree in Education from Troy State University at Montgomery in 1990. I have worked extensively with children in many areas due to the No Child left Behind Act. I have been to a Reading Academy, workshops, on the job training, and have been given title of model teacher. This is where new teachers come to observe my teaching of new programs that were put in place.

A Little Bit About Me...

In my experience teaching a wide range of ages and children from very different backgrounds, I have seen how all students can thrive in an academic setting with the right instructional strategy. All students learn differently; some need their assignments read aloud, while others prefer to read alone. Some learn better by hearing what is being taught, while others prefer to learn with visual aides. Some thrive on group and peer assignments, while others prefer to work alone or one-on-one with the teacher. My job is to find how your student will grasp what is being taught in the most effective manner of teaching.
