As a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College, I had the opportunity to work in small work group settings and learned the value of tutoring firsthand. throughout high school, I had the opportunity to tutor younger students in first and second grade. Upon graduation, I was able to return to my old school and teach high school students how to excel in public speaking and forensic debate. These experiences have had a profound impact on my life. During college, I learned the value of writing through my experience as a columnist for the college newspaper and through years of extensive term papers. I believe that every child has the unalienable right to experience some success each and every day of their lives. My approach is hands-on, student centered and nurturing. I believe in learning by discovery and the use of manipulatives in a manner whereby the student learns without even knowing it. The discovery approach is best to grasping knowledge but to process any and all information is tantamount. Knowing what to do with the information is far more important than just possessing it. A Little Bit About Me...

My goal is to simply to help. Everyone can learn, even in subjects they find difficult. I understand from first-hand experience why people can find the sciences difficult, especially Math and Physics, because I myself have had great difficulty with them in the past. So I know how hard it is, and I know that its possible to succeed despite this. I think the key is for someone to find a method of studying that works for them, and everyone is different. Of course, another difficulty, especially with the harder sciences, is simply understanding the concepts, and its always useful to have someone other then the teacher to try and explain them in another, hopefully simpler, way.
