I strongly believe that the success of education depends on how well it targets a student's learning style and values. Everyone can learn, but individual attention is a vital part of that. We don't all learn the same way or at the same speed, and these differences should be addressed in a positive and creative way to both convey the subject material and strengthen a student's ability to learn in the future.
I received my B.A. in English from Appalachian State University where I also received training in education. Afterward, I became an instructor at Richmond Community College, teaching basic reading and math to adults with learning disabilities as well as a course on PC literacy & business training. For the past seven years I have studied mathematics. Most of those years were spent at Wichita State University. I received my M.S. degree in mathematics while studying dynamical systems under Christian Wolf. I worked as a graduate teacher by instructing courses in Algebra, Trigonometry, etc and by tutoring in all mathematics courses offered at the university through the Calculus sequence.
