I believe that all students can achieve academic success, even in their least favorite subjects. However, everyone learns in different ways with sundry motivations. Many students require some one on one time with a qualified teacher, who will both identify the student’s learning style and adapt their teaching style accordingly. I also believe that a student’s confidence in their abilities will play into their success. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that a big part of teaching is listening and observing. Not every student learns the same way, so it is important to be patient and try to understand what works best for the student. In many cases, examples are helpful in learning. Examples that are tailored to a specific student (e.g. drawing correlations to cooking for measurements, or sports for averages) can be a great basis for understanding concepts. I have done classroom teaching and one-on-one teaching. I prefer the one-on-one approach because it is so effective, and so satisfying for myself and the student when progress is made.

I am a very patient teacher and meet students on their level, speak and relate to them with respect and love---and teach them according to their needs and skill levels. If a student is difficult to work with, I will not hesitate to steer off the subject path for a few minutes to discuss something that interests them--this gains their respect and creates a bond with the student--then I steer us back to the subject at hand. I am a firm believer that the science subjects are not as difficult as many students are afraid they are. In my past tutoring experiences I like to allow the student to explain to me in their terms their understanding of the subject. I then fill in the gaps or revise their understanding.
