What I have learned in my tutoring experience is that every individual has their own learning style - thus, I work with those tutored to find what means works best for them, and stress conceptual understanding over rote memorization. I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry followed by a Master's degree in plant pathology and have a passion for biology, math, and statistics. I believe learning is about confidence. I have seen numerous students doing poorly in courses because they were convinced that they were not capable of learning the subject matter. Small successes help to build confidence in order to move on to the subsequent challenges.
