A Little Bit About Me...

As a junior and senior finance major, I routinely tutored fellow classmates in several finance and business courses. As a junior I showed many of my classmates how to excel in several areas of business, such as, finance, accounting, human resources, and management. As a senior I tutored many of my friends and colleagues in many finance courses, such as, portfolio management, financial engineering, and personal finance. I've never tutored for pay, which shows how dedicated I am to helping people achieve their academic goals.
My teaching style is very simple, it's teaching people the concepts at hand in a manner they can understand, because some texts and instructions can be very confusing and over explained. I have earned dual undergraduate degrees, a BA in Mathematics and a BA in Economics, from Eastern Washington University. While attending EWU I worked as a econometrics tutor and teaching assistant. I have been admitted to a PhD program at Washington State University for this coming fall. Through tutoring at EWU, I have demonstrated an ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations. I have strong quantitative skills in mathematical, statistical and economic contexts.

I received a BA in General Business from WSU, and was honored as a Cum Laude graduate. The courses were varied and included a wide array of math application, from supply and demand curves to interest rate calculations. My classmates gave me the nickname "Webster" because I was frequently asked to edit their papers and to tutor them in several different subjects. I love working with teenagers, and watching their faces change when they really GET a concept for the first time!
I believe students will rise to the level of expectations set for them. I am a bit of a comedian, and I use humor to allay frustration in learning situations. I believe in setting goals and charting a specific path for reaching them, while being flexible enough to alter the path along the way. Praise and positive reinforcement are powerful tools when teaching challenging material, and I use them frequently.
