I graduated May 2013 from Fredonia with a Bachelors degree in Childhood Education. My concentration is in English. I spent a year of professional development in the Hamburg school district where I had student teaching placements in first, second, and fifth grade. I have spent the last year learning the Common Core standards and aligning curriculum to them. I've worked as a substitute teacher for the last 3 years and have 2 children of my own. My son has ADHD and I work especially well with special needs children.

A Little Bit About Me...

I use all the main teaching tools. Both hands on and visually for those students who need different tools. I love to interact with children and adults helping them through their classes to better their future. I also enjoy having a hand in their future success. I truely believe that a great teacher is one who teaches for the greater growth of their pupils and personally I strive to help them succeed.
As an Honor roll student, a student on the Dean's list I was lucky to have graduated early. I taught six graders through opelia. I have also tutored a master's Student through her Statistics. My philosophy is that education is power. Knowledge is our greatest defense and our greatest weapon. The single most important thing about being a teacher or mentor is to be respectful, socially aware, and sensitive. Okay, that's three things, but they kind of go together. The second most important thing about being a mentor is to create understanding about the underlying principle of whatever it is he or she is learning about. Once you understand the underlying principle, the "how to" stuff becomes a *lot* easier to understand and remember. On the other hand, a person who's trying to learn the "how to" stuff without understanding the underlying principles is likely to forget key things, to be tripped up when an unexpected question arises, and to get into other trouble.
