In my opinion, lecturing is the least creative style of teaching. I like to intertwine learning with imagination. It has been my experience that if you combine a subject with something that inspires the student, it creates an interest in the subject matter and helps the student retain more information.
Tutored all levels of College Biology in college. Classes tutored include: Wildlife and Fisheries, Wetlands Biology, Marine Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Invertebrate Zoology, Vertebrate Natural History, Biology 101, Biology 102, and Limnology. Because I am a very patient and detail oriented person, I feel it is best to adapt my teaching style to the student's learning style. I would first make that evaluation to determine how best to approach teaching the student. I enjoy using hands-on examples and Powerpoint presentations in teaching. I feel that one-on-one interaction will always help a child gain knowledge of a subject.
I have a BS in Environmental Science with a Chemistry minor. I also have a MS in Environmental/Soil Science. As a NASA scholar and Research Assistant, I taught undergraduate students Soil Science Lab Classes. I have tutored Elementary level reading and writing as a volunteer.
