A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching all grades and levels. The most important aspect of teaching is to know your student. Each individual learns in different ways, some are tactile learners, some are visual, and some are auditory learners. Incorporating all aspects into my teaching style assists the retention of the material. It also has to be relatable to the student, so we have to use relevant examples that they understand. All children can learn any subject if you can spark their interest. There is no better feeling than seeing the light turn on and the sense of accomplishment in a child's eyes.
I have completed all courses for my Associates Degree and was a trainer at my previous position. When in high school, I was a college preparatory student and graduated with a high school Diploma as well as 12 Advanced Placement courses and completed my International Baccalaureate diploma.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a parent of two adult sons, I have had the opportunity to work with youngsters at all stages of their development. More About This Tutor...

I believe in trying to incorporate each learning style into my teaching plan. This means that I use lecture, reading assignments, and hands-on learning to accomplish this. My main focus is to make learning matter. I have often been heard using the phrase..."So What?" I ask that question because I firmly believe that effective learning not only teaches the what...but also the why. I want students to be able to apply their learning. That way, ownership for the learning has taken place and it will "stick" with the student for a life-time.
I have served over 10 years in private Christian education as a principal, business and operations manager, and teacher for both middle and high school. A Little Bit About Me...

Many teachers will say the same thing, that they love teaching and it is only outside factors that will disrupt a class and make it difficult for some students to learn. I delight in helping students to acquire new knowledge and there is satisfaction in having students thank the teacher after a class. I like to work with small groups and encourage these groups to explore and teach each other from my leading. Sometimes however, extraneous issues prevent students from learning adequately at school and I welcome the opportunity to supplement this education with one on one or group tutoring.
