ADD/ADHD is one of my top subjects!

I truly enjoy working with students of all ages. It doesn't matter what they don't know because I believe anyone can be taught anything, at least as long as you have the right teacher and materials at your disposal. I believe students are like little sponges. They're taking in everything around them. Obviously, if you fill their heads with garbage, they will learn garbage. However, if you fill their heads with quality information, you explain it in a way that they understand, and you make it fun for them to learn, then they will learn everything you're trying to teach. There are thousands of educators, but only a few real teachers who can get a message across in such a way that the student doesn't just do the work, they UNDERSTAND what they're doing and why. I worked full-time for Okeechobee Eckerds Juvenile home for boys and the Polk County School District. In these positions, I was a reading teacher. I did work many years as a teacher, aide, and assistant that taught special needs learners to strengthen writing, math, and reading difficulties. Hence this gave me experience with many learning situations like one on one and whole group studious conditions. At all academic levels at Elmira College, I helped students to succeed at their scholarly endeavors. As a parent, I guided own daughters to be successful learners. I taught Kindergarten for five years at two different Title-1 schools in Okeechobee, Florida. I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of students including those afflicted with ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities, and behavioral challenges. Prior to my teaching experience, I have also had experience interning in 2nd grade and 4th grade classrooms, worked with extended day programs and tutored elementary school students.
From my teaching experience, I have been able to remain sensitive to students’ unique capabilities and provide a supportive and positive learning environment.
