Learning Can be Fun!

I have tutored children in group and individual piano lessons. I have tutored them in math and social studies. I have spent over 20 years in business in the accounting field and prepared countless financial statements and income tax returns. I am skilled in all things mathematical. I also speak Spanish through over 9 years of instruction.
I like to allow the student to read the material once and clarity any areas that need more explanation. Then I will allow them to answer questions from the material read and help them where needed to choose the correct answer and understand the reason for the answers. I like to reward a certain level of correct answers with points that can be redeemed for interesting small prizes. I also consider myself very patient and interested in the student having a strong foundation for future learning.

As a Master of Arts (Counseling & Human Development) Graduate, I learned that I was a lot more focused in graduate school than I was in my Bachelor of Arts program or in my first 12 years of learning. I think that was because the classes I was taking ran concurrent with my actually being out in the field working, learning things that were similar to what I was actually learning in the classroom. I was an in class tutor for kindergarden, 3rd and 5th grades. I also taught at Apopka Middle and drop out prevention at Apopka High School. I facilitated a boys group every Tuesday night and a youth group every Wednesday night. I did summer camps and tutoring after school as well.
My teaching style is that we do not move on until you (the student) "get it". If that is an hour or two, that's fine, or a week or two, that is fine as well. I need the student to know the material in order to move on.
