Some students learn best from lectures, other learn from visuals while some are much better at hands-on instruction and correlations/representations. I assess what their difficulty is. I may back track and ensure they understand the basic foundation of the principle they are learning, then move forward one step at a time, as they grasp each concept. Many times, they must understand step one, to complete step two, etc. I love to see people succeed. When a student finally understands a concept, it gives them, as well as me a feeling of great satisfaction.
