I love kids, and I love helping them learn new things.

I love teaching children and being able to see them learn. It is awesome to see and hear when they finally "get it" or when they understand something that I taught them. Moreover, when a student gives you an answer to a question and uses an example of something that you taught them earlier, it really shows you how quickly they can pick things up. My teaching "style" is very open--I will have an outline and while I am presenting I will sometimes ask for examples from the students to help get us through the outline together. You can't speak AT them; you have to involve the students in what you are teaching them.

I have worked with the Milwaukee Public Schools since January 2007 as a Paraprofessional Educational Assistant. I assist students with challenging subjects as needed. Previous to working in the Milwaukee Public Schools District, I worked at the UW-Milwaukee Children’s Center as a teacher in a kindergarten classroom. I instructed students on reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Through my courses at UW-Milwaukee, I have been placed in many field placements. In these field placements, I planned and implemented lesson plans.
I believe that every child can learn and be successful. Students all do not learn the same as the teacher, you need to change how you teach and present materials to get the attention of all of the learners in the classroom. I have taught, tutored and administered educational programs for over 15 years. These experiences included teaching 1st and 4th grade, tutoring grades 1-8, writing assistance for high school and university students, teaching ESL to youth and adult, GED prep for youth and adults, and managing two adult education programs.
