A Little Bit About Me...

I have recently graduated from UCLA in June with a Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. I have been tutoring my peers and students younger than me throughout my entire high school and college education, mostly in subjects related to math and science. I find working with kids and young adults very fulfilling, and I am looking to tutor more this summer because I would like to use my education to help students younger than me excel in their academics. As an engineering student, I have taken and excelled in several rigorous mathematics courses, including multivariable calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra. I am also confident in my teaching abilities for high school math, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus.

A Little Bit About Me...

I've always have had a passion for children and teaching children. My 10 years experience in being the Director of Children Ministry at my church has enabled me to be creative, open minded and flexible when dealing with educating young minds. I believe that all children have the potential if they had someone to help them fuel their fire within them...so they can see the gold ring when they reached for it!
I chose to earned my BS in Microbiology and minor in Chemistry because it was one of the hardest major. I did this in four years while married with three children. My experience at the community college and public school classroom includes a wide range of diverse teaching experiences from high achieving Japanese to Hispanic low performing students seventh graders I have excelled at teaching all levels of ethnically, academically and physically diverse students. The procedure I follow in tutoring is to first attack is to find out where any understanding difficulty lies. Then, I write the rules out. Next I work 2-3 problems applying the rules as we proceed step by step. Under my tutledge, I have the student work 2-3 problems on their own. When the student can, at least, master the basic problems, then we move on to the next area of difficulty. Every one can succeed at some level.

I am a 'relaxed' teacher, but maintain - or try to maintain - a good study pace. The individual I may be tutoring may require different approaches to try and learn the material at-hand; however, I have always found that with a positive attitude and a constructive approach to any learning 'issue' the solution is normally found between both the student and the tutor (as to the best study method works for the individual at-hand).
