My comments on tutoring Reading : I have taught Reading for thirty years in various grades from Kindergarten to sixth grade.

I have tutored in both Robeson County and Cumberland County for a total of six years. I tutored students in math, reading and science from grades Kindergarten to sixth grade. We also prepared students in grades three through six for the End of the Year test. We taught test taking strategies as well. In addition, I have tutored students that attend college in American Government and World History. I also, tutored in GA for three years. There I tutored various age groups in writing, reading, math, test strategies, and Microsoft Office. Lastly, I currently tutor students of various ages in math, reading, science, social studies, and writing.

I come from a teaching family, and continue to learn from teachers myself. I feel that because I am still eager to continue to learn new things, I can appreciate a good teacher. A Little Bit About Me...

I always tried to keep my approach as grounded as possible so that even my least talented tutees could grasp the task at hand. For instance, I feel it important to always sound out the words on a page, making sure the words flow smoothly off the tongue and not just in the mind. I do this so that the writing style, while formal, is also practical and easily accessed by the student as they write. I also feel it best to not focus too strongly on a student's weaknesses, but to feel out their strengths so that they may use those strengths to really work out their difficulties. I try to make a student not have to rely to strongly upon a tutor, but to, after not too long, walk away with the ability to tutor themselves better.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent 2006 graduate from College Misericordia where I student taught third, fourth and fifth grade learning support and regular education in a first grade classroom. I then worked in the Pine Grove School district where I taught students with varying exceptionalities including: learning disabled, mental retardation, emotional disturbance, and other health impairments. I taught the academic areas of Reading, English and Math.
