Chemistry is a complex subject with its own unique nomenclature and symbols. My job is to explain the subject in a straightforward way that is easier for students to understand. I find that rather than memorizing the material, it is better to use real life examples to illustrate the concepts and give tools that allow the students to be able to visualize the structures of atoms and molecules and their interactions. I believe that when chemistry is taught in a way that that is interesting and relevant to their lives, students are better able to learn the material.
