I prefer the hands on approach, especially in the design field. Its always better to get your hands dirty and clean up later.

Hands on - I'd prefer if those who I tutor had a computer to experiment on. Learning through doing is the best way.
I have 4+ years of experience developing in python 2.7 and Pygame, with working game examples being mainly a LightCycle game. I have an ongoing understanding of Java, C#, and JavaScript which continue to advance since July 2013.
